Brooke is a highly skilled and passionate dog trainer, recognized as one of the Best Dog Trainers in the State of Maine in 2021 by Downeast Dog Magazine.
She began her career in education, earning a degree in English from the University of Southern Maine in 2006. She worked as an Ed Tech III and a Behavioral Health Specialist, where she helped students achieve their educational and behavioral goals. Her love for dogs led her to volunteer at a local dog shelter and doggie daycare, eventually working as an assistant trainer.
Brooke's dedication to training dogs grew, and she became the head trainer at Blue Dog Daycare, where she created the Day School program. This program allowed dogs to train while their owners worked, with homework sent home for continued practice.
Over the years, Brooke earned several certifications, including the AKC's Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, CPDT-KA, and Therapy Dog team with her therapy dog, Barney. She trained under a mentor in California to refine her techniques, focusing on off-leash training without relying on treats, clickers, or e-collars, advocating for a relationship-based approach to training.
Brooke’s dedication extends beyond professional work; she competes with her dogs in AKC trials, achieving obedience and rally titles. Her Golden mix, Lily Pantaloons, has earned two obedience titles and one rally title, while her black lab, Ricochet Rabbit, has earned one obedience title and is working toward the Companion Dog Excellent title.
She resides in Harpswell with her husband and two children, who are also passionate about helping her train the dogs, further showcasing her commitment to her craft and her family.
